Animal Models of GPCRs

Animal Models of GPCRs

For Research Use Only. Not For Clinical Use.

Creative Biolabs are committed to providing a full range of high-quality animal models to accelerate GPCR drug discovery and development pipeline. We offer expertise and advanced technology to help our customers cope with increasing and unexpected challenges of time, quality and cost.

Introduction of Animal Models

In the past century, the use of animal models has improved our understanding of diseases and ensured the safety of drugs before entering the clinical phase with human subjects. There are a wide variety of animal models used in drug development, such as Drosophila, C. elegans, mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, cats and non-human primates. High-quality and validated animal models are critical for successful drug discovery and development. Because of the advantages and disadvantages of each model, they are useful in certain types of studies or phases of drug development.

Animal models can be roughly classified into four categories: induced or experimental models, spontaneous or natural models, negative or nonreactive models, and orphan models. The selection of the appropriate animal models for preclinical studies is one of the most important steps. Important factors, such as the appropriateness as an analog, the correlation to human trials, genetic uniformity, differences in drug response due to species difference, adaptability to experimental manipulation, ecological consequences, and ethical implications, need to be carefully considered.
